JANUARY HEALTH CHALLENGE | WEEK THREE

This article was a breath of fresh air. I like to feel like an expert at what I am doing, and while this may not seem like such a bad thing, it can be a hindrance when it stops you from trying something new just because you might fail. When I sit in a new-to-me fitness class I always have that irrational fear of being the worst in the class. And I know I am not the only one to feel that way. Isn't it such a beautiful thing to just meet your body where it is at in that moment rather than feel fear or frustration over what you can't do. To celebrate the fact that we are doing something good for our bodies instead of dwelling on the fact that we should be able to do more. I write all this just as a little nudge of encouragement to any one who who feels hung up on self-doubt or fear or whatever your particular "thing" is that stops you from getting out there and signing up for that class you have always wanted to try. A year and a half ago, I did just that and fell madly in love with barre class.

This past week was all about getting back on track in the exercise department after putting it on the back burner when Josephine was sick. I got some good miles in on the treadmill and took a yoga class at my gym. I also made it a huge priority to stay hydrated and get enough sleep. Game changer, you guys! I'd been staying up way too late for no good reason, so I started setting a mandatory bedtime for myself of 10 pm. Lights out, cedarwood and lavender going in the diffuser, no checking my instagram or facebook or email on my phone "just one last time." I made my sleep the priority, and turns out all those emails were still there waiting for me in the morning. Funny how that works, right? ;) I have had so much more energy to get up and go in the morning. I had forgotten what it feels like to not feel tired after a night's sleep. Let me tell you, it feels pretty darn good.

Weight: 127.5 lbs. (down 3.5 lbs)
Waist: 26 1/2 in. (down 1 1/2 in.)
Hips: 38 in. (down 1 1/2 in.)
Thighs: 22 in. (down 1/2 in.)
