This whole government shutdown has thrown us for quite the loop. With Pete furloughed, we have no idea when the next paycheck will come. A bit of a disconcerting feeling, to say the least. But, despite this pretty huge downside the shutdown has meant a lot more quality time as a family. And I really can't complain about that. I came across this article, and got a good chuckle out of it. It brings some levity to a situation that, quite frankly, sucks. And sometimes you need to see the humor in things in order to make it all a little more bearable. Our days feel like a perpetual weekend. We've been taking daily walks as a family. Lots of playing. Cooking meals together. Trying to knock some things off the to-do list. But there is also a sense of when is this weekend actually going to end? Very weird and unsettling.

There's a little playground in our neighborhood with some baby swings, so today we decided to head over and check them out. Josephine has never been on a swing before and we couldn't wait to see the reaction. It's one of those things that is such a quintessential childhood experience. She loved them! We tried so hard to get a smile out of her. Made silly faces. Funny noises. Acted like two crazy fools! And it was only after a big, high push that we got that last picture. The girl is a thrill seeker already. We're in trouble!  These firsts are always so much fun to be a part of, even the seemingly trivial ones. As a stay-at-home-mama, I am usually the one snapping pictures and taking videos to share with Pete when he gets home from work. Today, I was thankful he was around to experience it with us.

  1. Oh my heart. Money stuff always sucks, but those eyes and smile. *sigh* Kinda make things feel a little better, if even for a moment at the park.

    1. I was thinking the same exact thing yesterday while we were there. That pure joy makes everything else seem a little bit better :)

  2. I love those little pink Uggs and her hat - what a sweetie! Here's hoping they figure all this shutdown stuff out soon. So nice to see you and Pete last week!

    1. awe thanks, erika! hopefully we can see you again soon :)
